Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 14, 1926

Mrs. Mary Eliza Godfrey, aged 60, died yesterday morning at 3 o'clock in a 
Portsmouth hospital after a long illness.  She was a native of Isle of Wight 
County, a daughter of the late John E. and Mrs. Mary Lester, but had made her 
home in this section 28 years.  She is survived by her husband, C.H. Godfrey, 
of Portsmouth.
The body was taken to the funeral home of E. Lee Cox, 124 East Berkley Avenue, 
where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock.  Burial 
in Magnolia Cemetery.
