NORFOLK - Delester B. Godfrey of 838 W. 48th St., a native of Princess Anne 
County, died Tuesday in a hospital.

Mrs. Godfrey had been employed at Old Dominion Peanut Co. for 31 years. She was 
a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, the senior usher board and the pastor's 
aid society. She was a former member of Eureka Lodge.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Godfrey Sr.; six daughters, Rosa M. 
Simons, Rosa L. King, Delester Y. McAdoo, Laverne E. Godfrey, Eunice L. Godfrey 
and Constance Y. Godfrey, all of Norfolk; two sons, Robert L. Godfrey Jr. of 
Norfolk and Rufus R. Reid Sr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mary Louise 
Williams and Rosanna Vaughan, both of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren; and six great-
grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Hermon Baptist Church 
by dr. James Powell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will be at the residence. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday 
in Graves Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. 
Saturday.
