Virginian-Pilot October 12, 1928
Edward Peckham Gooding, aged 80, a native of Boston, but a resident of Portsmouth 
and Norfolk for the past 65 years, died yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock. He is 
survived by one daughter, Mrs. R. W. Gatewood, of Norfolk; three sons, H. L. 
Peckham, and E. M. Gooding, of Washington. D. C., and Clinton Peckham Gooding, of 
Norfolk; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was a member of Holy 
Trinity Catholic Church, and manager of the Nansemond bathhouse at Ocean View. 
Funeral services will be held at H. D. Oliver’s funeral apartments, 610-12 East 
Freemason street, tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
