Gertrude ``Gertie'' Goodman, 101, of the 1200 block of Curie Court, a retired 
domestic worker, died Feb. 26, 1995, in her residence. 

She was born in Norfolk County, daughter of the late Betsy and Oliver Shields, 
and was the widow of Edgar Goodman Sr. She retired 50 years ago as an employee 
of Robert Lambert after 25 years of service. Mrs. Goodman was a member of Zion 
Light Disciples of Christ Church and the Usher Board. 

Survivors include five daughters, Mildred Yancey, Vestoria Wilson, Alice Collins 
and Leslie Pender, all of Norfolk, and Carrie Goodman of Chesapeake; two sons, 
Edgar Goodman of Norfolk and William Goodman of Brooklyn, N.Y.; several 
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. 

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Zion Light Disciples of Christ 
Church, Norfolk, by Elder Best. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . E.A. Hughes 
Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Please send all flowers to the funeral 
home.
