He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and formerly had a grocery stall in the old City Market on Monticello Avenue. He was in the business 55 years until retirement. He was a son of John R. and Mrs. Bertie Crocker Goodson and the husband of Mrs. Lula Shauf Goodson. He was a member of the Salvation Army. Surviving are a son, Vernon Goodson of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Elliott of Newport News and Mrs. Bertie Winn of Portsmouth and a brother, J. R. Goodson of Norfolk. A funeral service will be conducted in Cox Funeral Home Sunday at 3 p.m. by Maj. James P. Henry of The Salvation Army, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
