Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark May 15, 1938
Mrs. Mary Susan Goodson, aged 61, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 
8:15 o'clock after an illness of nine weeks. She was a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk, the widow of A.J. Goodson, and daughter of the late Smith 
and Elizabeth Owens Belote. She was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. 
She had been associated with the firm of Carr, Mears & Dawson for 15 years.
Mrs. Goodson is survived by four brothers, J.W., John C., B.F. and C.E. Belote, 
all of Norfolk, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 
conducted at the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Brother, Westover avenue at 
Namteo street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Fred A Bobbitt, pastor 
of the Park Avenue Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family 
plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
