Virginian-Pilot May 4, 1917
Samuel Wilson Goodwin died at 4:45 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his 
son-in-law, W. C. Arrington, Tourraine apartments, Thirty-first street and 
Colonial avenue, aged 72 years. He suffered a paralytic stroke last Thursday 
morning. Mr. Goodwin was a native of Edenton, N.C., had lived in Norfolk twenty-
four years and was well known and highly esteemed. He is survived by a daughter, 
Mrs. W. C. Arrington. The funeral will be held at the residence at 3:30 o'clock 
tomorrow afternoon. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. R. A. Williams of the 
Park Place Baptist church. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
