NORFOLK - Mrs. Lucy Latane Baylor Gordan, 89, of 601 Stockley Gardens, Garden 
Apartments, a member of a prominent old Virginia family and a cultural leader in 
Norfolk many years, died Thursday at 4 p.m. in Norfolk General Hospital.
A native of Norfolk, she was a daughter of Richard and Mrs. Isabella McIntosh 
Baylor and the widow of John Dozier Gordan Sr.
She was a graduate of Leache-Wood Seminary and a lifelong member of First 
Presbyterian Church.
For many years she took a prominent part in Norfolk cultural activities and was 
a member of Irene Leache Memorial Association and Norfolk Society of Arts.
She is survived by a son, Charles McIntosh Gordan of Baltimore; a daughter, Mrs. 
William Jeffers of New York; four sisters, Mrs. James M. Wolcott, Miss Elizabeth 
Baylor, and Miss Rosalie Baylor of Norfolk and Mrs. Edward Holland of Eastville; 
and seven grandchildren.
She was also the mother of John Dozier Gordan Jr. of New York, who died in 1968.
The body was taken to H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.
The family will be at 601 Stockley Gardens, Garden Apartments.

GORDAN, MRS. LUCY LATANE BAYLOR - In a Norfolk hospital, Thursday, MRS. LUCY 
LATANE BAYLOR GORDAN, widow of John Dozier Gordan, Sr., and daughter of the late 
Richard and Mrs. Isabella McIntosh Baylor, in the 89th year of her age. The body 
will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, to First Presbyterian 
Church for funeral services Saturday at 4 o'clock. Burial, Elmwood Cemetery. The 
family will be at 601 Stockley Gardens, Garden Apartments, Norfolk.
