Norfolk Virginian Sept 10 1890
 
The funeral of Mrs. Martha P. Gordan, wife of the late John D Gordan, took 
place yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock from her late residence on Church 
Street. Rev. J. S. Hunter conducted the funeral services, and there was a very 
large attendance of friends and acquaintances. The casket was literally 
covered with beautiful floral designs. The gentleman who acted as pallbearers 
were Messrs. J. L. Seneca, Edward Church, Richard Fogart, W. G. Wilbern, R. W. 
Morland, R. J. Turner, John Shipp and John H. Williamson.
 
The interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
