Gordon - Funeral services for James C. Gordon, Norfolk man and formerly active in local political activities, who died Friday at a local hospital, were conducted yesterday morning at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by the Rev. Leo J. Ryan, with Monsignor Thomas E. Waters, the Rev. J. A. Taylor and the Rev. E. L. Stephens present in the sanctuary of the church. Pallbearers were Dr. A. A. Marsteller, J. E. Neikirk, Jesse Parris, Julian K. Pattus, George E. Holmes, John J. O’Keefe, Thomas B. Hatton, and Thomas J. Shannon. The funeral was attended by delegations from the Holy Name Society of the Blessed Sacrament Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the B. P. O. E. The casket was covered with Easter lilies and ferns, and there were many floral tributes. When the mass was concluded, Father Ryan paid tribute to Mr. Gordon’s loyalty to his friends and to his church. Mrs. Frank MacLaughlin sang, “Face to Face,” accompanied by Mrs. C. R. Davies at the organ. Mr. Gordon was, for a period of years, advertising and sales manager for Phillip Levy & Co., and, at the time of his death, was traveling representative for a large furniture firm. He was at one time a member of the Norfolk Common Council, and was also a member of the board of aldermen. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
