Robert Douglas Gordon, Sr., aged 55, husband of Mrs. Mary White Gordon and son of 
the late Teagle Cornelius and Mrs. Alice Whitehurst Gordon, a native and lifelong 
resident of Norfolk, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 9:20 o’clock 
after a short illness.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert L. Duncan, of 
Radford, and Miss Margaret L. Gordon, of Norfolk; three sons, Robert D. Gordon, 
Jr., of Norfolk, James W. Gordon, of Wilson, N.C., and Dickie Gordon, of Norfolk; 
three sisters, Mrs. M P. Barrett, of Lynnhaven, and Misses Margaret and Mary W. 
Gordon, both of Norfolk; two brothers, John S. Gordon, of Norfolk, and Russell V. 
Gordon, of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and 
nephews.
Mr. Gordon was a member of the brick mason's union, Local No. 2.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, Thirty-
fifth street at Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will 
be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
