No. 5, Box 157, died at St. Vincent's Hospital last night, the victim of the first fatal automobile accident that has occurred this summer on the Virginia Beach Boulevard. Gordon's skull was crushed shortly before noon yesterday when the automobile in which he was riding with his brother, Robert D. Gordon, aged 19, overturned after a collision, which police believe was cause by a cloud of dust kicked up by a bus. Robert Gordon also was injured more or less severely as were J.T. Lewark, of 12 Wellington Avenue, South Norfolk, and a companion, who were in the second car figuring in this wreck. The car in which the Gordon boys were riding was headed in the direction of Virginia Beach and the machine operated by Lewark was coming toward Norfolk. The Gordon machine was overturned and William was pinned beneath it. **************************************************************************** GORDON, WILLIAM TEAGLE - At a local hospital, Saturday, September 25, 1926, at 9:50 o'clock p.m., WILLIAM TEAGLE, son of Mary E. and Robert D. Gordon, in the 18th year of his age. Funeral services at St. Mary's Catholic Church TUESDAY MORNING at 10 'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark September 27, 1926 *********************** William Gordon - Funeral services for William Gordon, fatally injured Saturday in an automobile accident, will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Robert D. Jr. and James W. Gordon; and two sisters, Misses Mary Evelyn and Margaret Louise Gordon, all of Norfolk. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark September 27 1926 ************************************************************************* William Teagle Gordon - Funeral services for William Teagle Gordon, 17-year-old son of Robert D. and Mary E. Gordon, were held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. A.J. Taylor officiating. The Rev. E.P. Gallagher and the Rev. M. Hartigan were present. Father Taylor paid a very high tribute to the Christian life and character of the deceased and spoke at length on the uncertainty of life and the importance of being prepared for death. Several selections were rendered during the service by the choir of St. Mary's Female Academy. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with a pall of dahlias, roses, Easter lilies and ferns. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The pallbearers were R.V. Gordon, George Flora, Granville Revelle, William Griffin, Louis White and A.M. Edwards.
