She was a local artist and teacher. Born in San Bernardino, Calif., she was the widow of Arthur Thomas Gormley Jr. Mrs. Gormley was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a volunteer at their soup kitchen. She taught art at Norfolk Catholic High School, and water colors at the Hermitage Foundation, Ghent Venture and the Senior Citizens Center. She was past president of the Norfolk Junior Woman's Club, treasurer of the Fortnightly Study Club, and was a former member of the Women's Club of Christ the King Church. Survivors include four daughters, Karen G. Sanford of Norfolk, Mary Martina "Marty" G. Overton of Franklin, Elizabeth G. Borysewicz of Mechanicsville, and Julia Marie Molchany of Westland, Mich.; three sons, Arthur Thomas "Thor" Gormley III of Virginia Beach, Daniel Cummins Gormley and Stephen David Gormley, both of Richmond; a sister, Mary Lu C. Ratcliffe of West Hartford, Conn.; a brother, William Cummins of Chicago, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren, Shannan and Margaret Gormley, Drew and Lauren Sanford, A.J. and Timmy Overton, Matt, Chris and Connor Borysewicz, Nichole Gormley and Kathryn Molchany. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Fr. John Dorgan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters for juvenile diabetes, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
