Grady - The death of this most estimable lady, which occurred at her residence yesterday morning, on Lee Street, at 3 o'clock, after one week's brief illness, has produced an aching void amid her large circle of friends. She was aware of her dissolution and expressed an only desire to see her mother, residing in Petersburg, before her departure from this world. Rev. Herbert Hope, by request, preceded the service Sunday night by a most fervent invocation to the Divine throne to spare her until the arrival of her devoted mother; but, alas, that mother only reached here at 6 o'clock yesterday morning, to find her child wrapped in the chilly embrace of death. Yesterday at 4 o'clock her lifeless remains were borne to the chancel of the M.E. Church, where Rev. Herbert Hope preached a most touching funeral discourse. The following gentlemen acted as her pallbearers: Dr. Geo. W. Wallace, John C. Nash, John E. Wrenn, W.W. Cox, E. Rudd and J.M. Berkley. Our deep sympathy abides with a stricken husband and affectionate mother bending under the weight of years.
