Granberry Passes Away in New York, Aged Ninety-Six Years New York-Feb. 15-Colonel Henry A.T. Granberry died last night at his home, N. 140 East Forty-Seventh Street, at the age of ninety-six years. He had lived in New York since 1841, and was identified with the tobacco business. He was born on March 24, 1808, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was an orderly in Norfolk Calvary in 1830, and was appointed colonel during “Nats War”, as the Insurrection ending with the Southampton massacre in 1831 was called. Before the war of secession, while living in New York, he was a member of the Virginia Society, and continued as such until the breaking out of the war caused the suppression of the organization. He bore a striking resemblance to the late General Robert E. Lee; was repeatedly mistaken for him.
