Virginian-Pilot July 14, 1967
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - George C. R. Grandy, 74, a son of a former Norfolk 
newspaper publisher, died Thursday in his home.
His parents were Albert H. and Mrs. Annie Reid Grandy. His father published the 
Norfolk Pilot, which merged with the Norfolk Virginian in March 1898 to become 
The Virginian-Pilot. Grandy became chief stock-holder and president of the 
merged papers.
A native of Norfolk, he lived here most of his life. He owned several orange 
groves here.
He was the husband of Mrs. Dorothy McCutcheon Grandy.
Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lambert of Greenwich, 
Conn.; a sister, Mrs. John F. Marshall of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren; and 
a great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, 
Monday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. Ben R. Duffey of Eastern Shore Episcopal Chapel. 
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
