Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch July 10, 1917
Mrs. Permelia Virginia Grandy, widow of Abner Williamson Grandy, died last night 
at 10 o'clock, at her home at "Edgewood," Norfolk county, after a lingering 
illness, aged 71 years. She was a consistent member of the Freemason Street 
Baptist Church and was a lady of quiet, unassuming manner, being loved by all who 
knew her. She is survived by two sons, Herbert L. Grandy, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and 
Bruce Abner Grandy, of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Whiting, of San 
Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Spencer Stevens, of Norfolk county, and four 
grandchildren. The funeral takes place from her late residence at 3 p.m. Thursday. 
Burial in Elmwood.
