Born in Norfolk, in recent years he lived at 1067 South Bay Drive, Bay Colony. He was a son of Dr. Charles Rollin and Mrs. Mable Dickman Grandy. He was married in 1933 to the former Mary Chambers O'Brien of Louisville, Ky., who survives. He had been affiliated with Investment Corporation of Norfolk in various capacities since 1933. He became a director and vice president in 1957. For many years, he also was vice president and director of Beach Culligan Water Service, Inc. During World War II he was a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve, on active duty from 1942 to 1945. His early education was in Norfolk public schools and Episcopal High School in Alexandria. He was a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Business School of Columbia University. He entered the investment banking field in 1929 with White, Weld & Co. in New York. He left in 1933 to work in the bond department of Investment Corporation of Norfolk and subsequently advanced to the firm's mortgage loan department. He was a member of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Princcss Anne Country Club, the Virginia Club, Delta Phi fraternity, a past president of the Alumnae Association of the University of Virginia, and member of Lynch American Legion Post. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Charles R. Grandy of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Miss Ann L. Grandy of New York; and two granddaughters. The body will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, to Selden Chapel of Christ and St. Luke's Church for a funeral service Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and those desiring may contribute to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
