Norfolk Virginian Pilot Sunday July 15, 1951
Troy, N>C., July 14 --  Walter R. Grant, 68, died at his home in Troy early 
this morning.  He was born in Northampton County, was an alumnus of Duke 
University, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
He married Miss Linnie Hyslop, of Norfolk, Va. and joined the firm of M.T. 
Blassingham Company, timber dealers, and moved to Montgomery County in 1912, 
with offices in Star, N.C., later moving to Troy.  He served three terms as 
chairman of the County Board of Education and was mayor of Troy for two 
terms, an officer in Trinity Methodist Church, a teacher in the men's Bible 
Class.
The funeral will be conducted Sunday from the Trinity Methodist Church, 
Troy, at 5 o'clock.  The burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Norfolk, 
Monday at 2 o'clock.
