Dr. John M. Galt, City Coroner, held an inquest over the body yesterday morning and the jury returned a verdict of death from the excessive use of intoxicating liquors. The deceased came to this city from North Carolina about ten years ago. James Grant, white, aged fifty years, and formerly of North Carolina, died suddenly on Sunday night at his residence, corner James and Queen street of alcoholism. The coroner's jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the above fact. Additional Comments: While the Death Register gives his death date as the 11th, from the 2 newspaper reports, he died on Sunday, the 12th.
