On March 17, 1999, God walked into Little Henry Grant's room and stood beside
his bed. He said, ``Little Henry, you are tired and have gotten very weak and
it's time for you to get your sleep. I've come to take you to get your rest, for
I'm the One who knows what's best.''

Little Henry Grant departed this life on March 17, 1999. He was born on Sept.
24, 1927, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grant in Texas. He was a retired
veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served 20 years. He was a very devoted and hard
worker at Public Health Hospital and retired having served 21 years. Through his
travels when he was stationed in Pensacola, Fla., he met and married Mary A. Grant.

He leaves to mourn his death a loving wife, Mary A. Grant; daughters, Juanita
Grant, Carline T. Scott of Norfolk, Linda G. Augustus of Chesapeake and Mauri G.
Williams of Norfolk; five sons, Martin E. Grant of Chesapeake, Ronnie E. Grant,
William J. Grant, Little Henry Grant III and Tommy L. Grant of Norfolk; a
sister, Catherine Grant of California; two brothers, James E. Grant and Benny
Grant of California; a very close and devoted friend, Leroy Smith; and a host of
grandchildren, nieces, relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Graves Funeral Home Chapel by
the Rev. Lawrence Todd. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .

God has smiled on him; He has set him free. God has smiled on him, surely, He
has been good to thee. Sorrowfully, the family.
