Graves, aged 71, retired from the Norfolk Fire Department in which he served for many years, and one of Berkley's best known residents, died yesterday morning at the family residence, 327 South Main street, after an illness of about four weeks. He was the son of the late David A. and Rebecca Pullen Graves and is survived by four brothers, Ernest A., David A., Harry L. and E.M. Graves, all of Berkley, and a sister, Miss Daisy Graves, of Berkley. A lifelong resident of Berkley, he was a member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church and sang in its choir years ago; Woodmen of the World and Aerie 795, Order of the Eagles. The body was removed to the J.R. Williams Funeral Home, 1027 Chesapeake avenue, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
