Norfolk Journal and Guide, Oct 2, 1954
The Rev. James W. Green of 2505 East Princess Anne road, died at 6:30 p.m. 
Sept. 26 at a Norfolk hospital following an illness of about two years.  
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at St. Mary’s Holiness 
Church with Elder Mary Johnson officiating.

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Mr. Green lived in Norfolk about 39 
years.  He was the son of the late Henry and Mrs. Ella B. Dixon.  He was 
assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Holiness Church at one time.

Rev.  Mr. Green is survived by three sons, Joseph A., Herbert L. and David 
A. Green;  two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Kirk and Mrs. Annie P. Norman, 
of Norfolk;  an aunt, Mrs. Ida Owens, of Newport News, VA;  and eleven 
grandchildren.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory 
Funeral Service, Inc. in charge.
