A funeral service was held Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church for Mrs. Bessie 
Green, 72, of 926 Middlesex street, who died at her home July 9.

A native of Winfall, NC, Mrs. Green was a Norfolk resident for 45 years.

She was the widow of James Green and the daughter of the late Charles White and 
Mrs. Fannie White.  She was a missionary and deaconess at Antioch.

The Rev. J. W. Matthews conducted the church rites.  Burial was in Mt. Olive 
Cemetery under direction of Fitchett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Green’s survivors are three sons, Stanley Green of Washington, James Green 
of Norfolk, and Thomas Skinner of Richmond;  a brother, Charlie White of 
Norfolk;  a sister, Mrs. Rubina Rainey of Norfolk;  and 11 grandchildren.
