NORFOLK - James Edward Green, 71, of 2729 Monrovia drive  died in U. S. Public
Health Service Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Wilmington NC, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lillian Green.

He retired from Norfolk, Baltimore, Carolina Lines after 32 years.

He was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell of Norfolk;  six grandchildren; 
and a great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Oliver
Welch.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Pritchett Funeral Home, Portsmouth,
in charge.
