Norfolk Virginian-Pilot April 25, 1943
Edward Greenland, aged 81, son of the late Alfred and Mrs. Susan Hutching 
Greenland, a native of Tunbridge Wells, England, and a resident of this section 
for many years, died at a local hospital yesterday morning at 11 o'clock. 
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. G. Clarke, of Churchland, and Mrs. 
Marguerite G. Copes, of Norfolk; one son, Edgar H. Greenland, of Orlando, Fla.; 
five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Herbert Greenland, 
of Portland, Ore., and John and Fred Greenland, both of England; a sister, Mrs. 
Elizabeth Godden, of England, and two nieces. Mr. Greenland resided at 126 East 
Thirty-ninth street.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. 
John F. Ward, rector of the Church of the Ascension, officiating. Burial will be 
in Elmwood Cemetery.
