Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, May 30, 2002 
NORFOLK - Vera K. Gregory who lived a long and happy life went to be with the
Lord May 24, 2002. She was a native of Norfolk where she spent most of her
wonderful 88 years.

Mrs. Gregory was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Norfolk where she
served in numerous capacities within the church and community. She was a member
of the Maggie Walker Missionary Circle, The Elite Club, and Norfolk Area Council
Missionaries. She was a charter member of North Eastern District Ushers League
and the Senior Usher Board. She had contributed countless hours in ``training''
various usher boards at Bethlehem. Mrs. Gregory was a true believer in Christ
and she loved her church and loved working in service of the Lord.

Her husband, Oliver B. Gregory and daughter, Olivia Williams, predeceased her.
She leaves behind a daughter, Delois Harper of Portsmouth; a son, Clarence
Castle of Norfolk; a sister, Miriam Oden (Orange) of Chesapeake; eight
grandchildren, Mary Gardner (Romeo), August Harris, William Harper Jr. (Brenda),
Debra Harper (Edward), Yolanda Brown (Harry), Juanita Thomas, Lillian Durham
(Ricky) and Jerry Castle; 11 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Floyd Oden of Texas; and a host other
family and friends.

Her homegoing will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Link Street in Norfolk at 1
p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral Home is in charge.
