Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 27, 1953

Darries Gregory, 77, husband of Mrs. Agnes Mazzel Gregory and son of Quinton and 
Mrs. Mary Dixon Gregory, a native of Elizabeth City, N.C. and a resident of 
Norfolk for 70 years, died yesterday at 2:10 p.m. at the residence, 4609 Newport 
Avenue.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Russo, of 
Cradock; Mrs. Darries Belton and Mrs. Thelma Durham, of Virginia Beach and Miss 
Elda Gregory, of Norfolk; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one 
brother, W.C. Gregory, of Portsmouth.
The body was removed to the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

Darries Gregory - Funeral services for Mr. Gregory, who died Thursday, were 
conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments yesterday at 10 a.m. by the 
Rev. Thomas M. Summers, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial was in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hugh Simpkins, Raymond Bell, Morris Flournoy, 
Julian Kaufman, Burton Sellers, and P. D. Barlow.
