Norfolk Daily Landmark August 15, 1889 **************************************************************************** Death Loves a Shining Mark The sad intelligence of the death of Mrs. Eliza A., wife of our well known and esteemed young townsman, George B. Gregory, Esq., was received yesterday. It occurred at 3:45 p.m. at the residence of her husband, No. 36 Reservoir Avenue, Brambleton Ward, after a painful and protracted illness. For weeks past the loving friends who hourly watched beside her sick couch have realized that the worst was at hand. All the efforts of the best medical skill to restore her to health were fruitless and at the hour mentioned above she calmly and peacefully passed away. The deceased was a most estimable woman, of warm and sympathetic nature and generous to a fault, and her untimely death has created a void amongst a large circle of friends and acquaintances which will be most difficult to fill. But her loss will be more deeply felt by her bereaved husband, to whom she was ever the highest source of comfort and joy. It will be a consolation to him to know in his deep sorrow and bereavement that she gave evidence of her perfect readiness to exchange her sufferings here for the joys and triumphs of Heaven. The funeral will take place from the Cumberland Street M.E. Church, of which in life she was a consistent member, at 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
