                      Death of Mrs. S.S. Gresham, Sr.             

It is with deep regret that THE VIRGINIAN is called upon to announce the death 
of Mrs. S.S. Gresham, Sr., which sad event took place at the residence of her 
husband yesterday morning at 11:15, after a lingering illness of consumption. 
Mrs. Gresham was in her 66th year, a devout Christian, a loved mother and leaves 
a large circle of admiring friends to mourn her loss. Her funeral will take 
place on Sunday evening at 3:30 o'clock from the Freemason Street Baptist 
Church, of which the deceased was a member.

The funeral of Mrs. S.S. Gresham, Sr., whose death occurred on Friday morning, 
took place from the Freemason Street Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 
o'clock and was largely attended by the friends of the deceased. The services at 
the church and ceremony at Elmwood Cemetery, where the remains were interred, 
were conducted by the Rev. Dr. J.L. Burrows, pastor of the church, assisted by 
Rev. T.G. Jones. The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers:  Messrs. G. R. 
Wilson, C.E. Jenkins, E.T. Powell, L.Royster, C.A. Nash, G.W. Dey, W.R. Hudgins, 
T.A. Williams.
