Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. H. T. Myers officiating for John Wesley Grey, who died, at his residence, 1620 Bond street, during the night of Dec. 4. Mr. Grey, a native of Keystone, WV, had been a resident of Norfolk for the past 33 years. A licensed printer, he was at one time a member of the Journal and Guide staff. For the past 24 years he was employed by the United States Postal Service. He was a World War 1 veteran having served in France; a member of the Postal Alliance and past senior steward of James P. Carter Lodge 195 A. F. and A. M. The officers and members of his Masonic fraternity served as honorary pallbearers. A solo was sung by Mrs. H. T. Myers. Among the survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mattie W. Grey; a son, John Wesley Grey, Jr., of Martinsville, VA; and nine grandchildren. Relatives attending the funeral from of town were Samuel Cheese of Charleston, WV; W. L. Warner, Washington, DC; the Rev. and Mrs. R. L. Hairston, Irving Hairston; John Hairston; Mrs. Virginia Gravely, all of Martinsville, VA; and Jon C. Calhoun, Keystone, WV. Mr. Grey was interred in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Service in charge.
