A lifelong resident of Norfolk, her parents were Moses and Mrs. Dinah Clarke. She was a member of St. John's A.M.E. Church and numerous fraternal organizations. She attended the Norfolk Mission College and Virginia Normal and Industrial Institute which evolved into present day Virginia State College here. Surviving are five daughters, three of whom are school teachers, Miss Teresa A. Griffin, who teaches in Norfolk and is president of the Norfolk Teachers Association; Miss Myrtle C. Griffin, who also teaches here, and Mrs. LaVesta Chandler, who teaches at Onancock; Miss Shirley Griffin, of New York City, and Mrs. Doris Smith, of Norfolk; and two sons, Lt. Col. James C. Griffin, chaplain in the USAF, stationed at Spokane WA, and David Griffin, of New York City. The body was removed to the Riddick Funeral Apartments. Arrangements were incomplete last night.
