He was the husband of Mrs. Pauline Taylor Griffin and son of the late George W. and Mrs. Martha Upchurch Griffin. He was a native of Spring Hope, N.C., and a shoe merchant in Greenville, N.C. 19 years before coming to Norfolk with the Alcoholic Beverage Control. He retired here because of ill health. He was a mason and a member of Sudan Temple, AAONMS, of New Bern, N.C., of the Jarvis Memorial Methodist Church, of Greenville, and of Norfolk Lodge No. 38, BPO Elks. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, J. A. Griffin and Sion Griffin, of Spring Hope. Funeral services will be conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 2 p.m. by the Rev. L. R. Black, pastor of the Colonial Avenue Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
