NORFOLK - Mrs. Mary M. Griffin of 458 E. Brambleton Ave., the widow of Bishop 
J.M. Griffin and a native of Surry County, died Sunday morning in a nursing 
home.

She was a member of Philadelphia Church of Christ Disciples, where she was a 
prophetess and member of the senior choir.

Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Janie Gordon of Chesapeake; three 
stepdaughters, Mrs. Mayr Darden and Mrs. Sarah Williams of Norfolk, and Mrs. 
Deborah Walston of New Jersey; three stepsons, Floyd Griffin and Jeremiah 
Griffin of Norfolk, and Calvin Robinson of Hampton; a sister, Mrs. Nancy 
Gholston of Newport News; and a grandchild.

A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Philadelphia Church of Christ 
Disciples by Bishop Jasper White. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale 
Funeral Home in charge. The family will have visitation at the funeral home 
Thursday from 9 to 10 p.m. and will meet there at1 1 p.m. Friday.
