Norfolk - A funeral service for Purnell Griffin, 83, of 884 Johnson avenue, was
conducted Saturday in Jerusalem Baptist Church by the Rev. T. M. Venable. 
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge.

A native of Waverly, he was a son of John and Mrs. Elnora Griffin and husband of
Mrs. Ethel Griffin.  He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church and Elks Lodge.
 He worked 30 years at the Central YMCA and died July 25 in a nursing home.

He is survived by a niece, Mrs. Aggie Felton of Norfolk.
