Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Saturday January 7, 1928
William Lee Griffith, aged 65, son of the late William Lee and Frances Simpson 
Griffith, died yesterday afternoon at 1:20 o’clock at a local hospital. He was a 
native of Norfolk County and a lifelong resident of this section. He is survived 
by one son, W. M. Griffith; two grandchildren, Mary Frances and Elizabeth Arintha 
Griffith, and three sisters, Mrs. Dora Powell and Mrs. T. J. East, of Norfolk, and 
Mrs. E. F. James, of Washington, D. C. 
Funeral services will be held at the residence of his brother-in-law, Thomas J. 
East, 554 Spotswood Avenue, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. S. E. Jones 
and the Rev. C. M. Gordon officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
