Virginian-Pilot September 30, 1957
NORFOLK — Mrs. Mary Brodnax Robertson Grimes, 78, widow of James Peyton Grimes 
and daughter of the late Francis Brodnax and Mrs. Mary Chestine Haskins 
Robertson, died yesterday at 1:16 a.m., at the residence, 317 34th St., Virginia 
Beach.
She was a native of Richmond, and a resident of this section for the past 50 
years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William R. Hemingway, of Norfolk, 
and Mrs. Walter Irvine Jordan, of Virginia Beach, and three grandchildren, 
William R. Hemingway Jr., Mary Peyton Hemingway, of Norfolk, and Walter Irvine 
Jordan Jr., of Virginia Beach.
The body will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments to Elmwood 
Cemetery for services at the grave today at 2 p.m., to be conducted by the Rev. 
Edmund Berkeley, rector of Galilee Episcopal Church of Virginia Beach. The 
family requests that flowers be omitted.
