Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - September 14, 1993
Mary C. Grimes, 87, of the 800 block of Virginia Beach Blvd., a retired
registered nurse, died Sept. 12, 1993, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Norfolk, she was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk;
Missionary Circle; Nurses Unit; Mattie Jones Sunday School Class; and the
Salvation Army Home League. She was a former member of the Gospel Choir of the
church and the Norfolk City Federation of Colored Women Clubs.

Survivors include two nieces, Helen Murray and Perlinia Gibbs, both of New York
City; two devoted cousins, Ms. Marian Richardson and Mrs. Cora Grant of Norfolk;
and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in First Calvary Baptist Church,
813 Henry St., Norfolk, by the Rev. Johnnie White. Burial will be private.
Family and friends will assemble at 850 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, at 11:20
a.m. for the funeral procession. Twilight Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
