GRIMSTEAD, 85, MASON CHIEF, TAX COLLECTOR Fitzhugh Lee Grimstead, 85, of 242 Lucille Ave., a Masonic leader and retired Norfolk delinquent-tax collector, died Tuesday in a hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Lucille Vellines Grimstead and a son of William T. and Mrs. Charlie Olevia Gwynn Grimstead. He retired from his city position in 1956. He was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church. He was a past grand commander of the Grand Commandery of Virginia in 1936- 37. He was the oldest past master of Ruth Masonic Lodge 89, having served in 1919; a past high priest of John Walters Royal Arch Chapter 68; a past commander of Grice Commandery 16 and a member of Khedive Shrine Temple. Besides his widow, surviving are a granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth H. Midgett of Norfolk and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home by Dr. John Wynn Myers of Park Place United Methodist Church. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be sent to King's Daughters Children's Hospital.
