Gilbert Grubb, died at a local hospital last night at 7:10 o’clock after an illness of one week. She was a native of South Mills, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk practically all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth R. and Mrs. Ann Fanshaw Sawyer, and in addition to her husband, is survived by one daughter, Miss Mary Grubb; one son, John Gilbert Grubb, 2nd, of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. G.S. Knott, Portsmouth and the Misses Lillian and Addie Sawyers, Norfolk, and two brothers, J. Gather Sawyer and M. Elbert Sawyer, Norfolk. The body will be taken from the funeral home of E. Lee Cox & Bro., 631 Westover Avenue, to the family residence, 537 Pennsylvania Avenue, Colonial Place, for funeral services, Wednesday at 12 o’clock, noon. The Rev. Sparks W. Melton, pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Elmwood Cemetery.
