He was a native and former resident of Norfolk, but had been a resident of Indianapolis for the past 15 years. Surviving him are one son, Samuel J. Gunter, Jr.; one daughter, a Mrs. Harris, both of Baltimore, Md. and one sister, Mrs. Charles H. Chapman, of Norfolk. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Virginian Pilot and Norfolk Landmark Thursday April 13, 1933 ****************************** Samuel Joynes Gunter - Funeral services for Mr. Gunter whose death occurred Tuesday night in Indianapolis, will be held at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason street, this afternoon at 12:30 o'clock with the Rev. H.P. Myers, D.D., pastor of Park Place Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Gunter is survived by one son, Samuel J. Gunter, Jr. and one daughter, Mrs. Charles W. Cross, both of Baltimore; one sister, Mrs. Charles H. Chapman, of Norfolk and three grandchildren.
