Mrs. Gurley was a native of Sunbury, N.C., and a well-known resident of Norfolk for the past 55 years. She is survived by one daughter, Miss Mary E. Gurley, of Norfolk, and a sister, Mrs. Kate P. Hardison, of Virginia Beach. Services will be held at H.D. Oliver's Funeral Apartments, 610-612 East Freemason street, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. Thomas A. Smooot, D.D., pastor of Epworth Methodist Episcopal church, of which Mrs. Gurley was a member, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
