A native of Norfolk and longtime resident of Virginia Beach, Mr. Guy was a graduate of Maury High School, attended the Norfolk Division of William & Mary, the University of Richmond and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1940 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Guy entered the U.S. Navy after college. During World War II, he was in charge of Radio Communications Field Services for the entire Pacific Theater, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander in 1946. After the war, he returned to Virginia Beach and co-founded Electronic Engineering Co., serving as CEO for 46 years. His company was best known for installing sound systems for Scope, Chrysler Hall, Norfolk International Airport, the USS United States and numerous churches and school systems in the Hampton Roads area. Active in community affairs, Mr. Guy was a charter member and past president of the Virginia Beach Jaycees, president of the North End Civic League, charter member, past president and national fellow of the National Contract Management Association. He also served as senior warden of Galilee Episcopal Church and was a member of Princess Anne Country Club. Mr. Guy is survived by his wife, Carol Guy; two daughters, Elizabeth Thomson and Margaret Innocent; two sons-in-law, James Thomson and Greg Innocent; grandson, Jimmy Thomson; and two stepchildren, William and Sarah Martin. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dr. Stanley W. Sawyer. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 or the Virginia Beach SPCA, 3040 Holland Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.
