"June 22d, Captain Elias Guy died. He had been Chief of Police for a long time, 
and was ever faithful in the discharge of his duty. An useful citizen, devoted 
husband, kind father, generous friend, and a consistent and upright man, were 
the chief characteristics of his nature. He was buried by the Odd Fellows, of 
which Order he was a shining light".
