Virginian-Pilot March 28, 1960
NORFOLK — Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Guynn, 95, widow of Ernest Lloyd Guynn, and 
daughter of William R. and Nancy Halstead Overton, died at her home, 636 New 
Jersey Ave., Sunday at 4:45 p.m.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. C. Mitchell and Mrs. W. J. Griggs of 
Norfolk and Mrs. H. S. McIntyre of Hickory, N.C.; two sons, M. V. Guynn and R. 
C. Guynn of Norfolk; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; a niece, Mrs. 
May 0. Grant of Norfolk, and other nieces and nephews.
A native of Weeksville, N.C., she had resided in Norfolk 83 years. She was a 
member of Park Place Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday at 11 
a.m. with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. 
Mitchell, 6015 River Rd.
