He was a retired tugboat captain for the Southern Transportation Company. A native of Pamlico County, N.C., he had lived here for 28 years. He was a member of the South Norfolk Church of Christ. His late parents were Lunford and Mrs. Hattie Simpson Guynn. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Mae Carawan Guynn; five daughters, Miss Vivian Guynn, Mrs. Lonnie Taylor and Miss Daphne Guynn, all of South Norfolk, Mrs. J. W. Davenport and Mrs. Phillip Smith, of Norfolk; two sons, Harry Guynn, of Hawaii, and Robert Guynn, of Manteo, N.C,; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Spicer, of Oriental, N.C., and Mrs. Katie Cole, of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, James Guynn, of Norfolk; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
