Chares Gygi, Veteran in Cleaning

Charles Gygi, 79, president and founder of Compeco Cleaners and Virginia's 
oldest man in the business, died early Tuesday in his sleep at his home, 5000 
Colonial Ave.
A native of Switzerland, he lived here 56 years and was a member of Colonial 
Avenue Methodist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Martha V. Gygi; three sons, Andrew C. Gygi, 
Herbert A. Gygi and Blois R. Gygi of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Pipoz of 
Geneva, Switzerland; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. 
with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
