Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1971, as a senior chief petty officer. He also retired from civil service on Feb. 3, 1999. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where he served as a lector, and the Nocturnal Adoration Society at church. He was a past grand knight of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 367. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Jean Haddox; a daughter, Cynthia L. Haddox of Cape Canaveral, Fla.; three sons, D. Michael Haddox, Gregory R. Haddox and W. Patrick Haddox, all of Norfolk; a sister, Sarah E. Haddox of Youngstown, Ohio; two brothers, Harry M. Haddox of Youngstown and Fredwin Haddox of Gainesville, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin, Erin, Jonathan and Donald. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. R.F. Muench officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Christian wake service, Knights of Columbus service, Nocturnal tribute and a Rosary service beginning at 7 p.m. today at St. Pius X Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church or to the hungry and homeless. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
