He was born on February 2, 1942, to Anthony R. "Tony" Hage and Mary John Hage, immigrants from Beirut, Lebanon. Mike was a retired restaurateur, the previous owner of "Hawaiian Village", "The Colony House Restaurant", "Hagey's Sub and Pub", and "Arbor Sub". Over the years, Mike met many people in his restaurants and made many lifelong friends. He was a 1960 graduate of Granby High School and manager of the basketball and baseball teams. After high school he attended Frederick Military Prep School and then on to Frederick College. He served honorably in the Army Reserve. His passions in life included all sports, but golf, fishing, and softball were his top three. Mike coached the Azalea Packers Basketball Team and won many city championships. Mike had a heart of gold and was incredibly generous to many people who were less fortunate. He ran many a tab for his customers and no one who needed a meal went away without one. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Jo Hage, his son Michael A. Hage and wife Michelle, and his beloved dog Mollie. Other survivors include his brother, Anthony R. Hage, Jr. and wife Patrice; two nephews, Matthew A. Hage and wife Jenna of New York City and Philip R. Hage of Saratoga Springs, NY; mother-in- law Rose McBrayer; brother-in-law Noel Sterling; and first cousin John Romanus, his wife Rosemary, and their extended family. A viewing will be held from 3-5 P.M. on Sunday, August 10, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Norfolk Chapel on Colonial Avenue. A graveside service and burial will be held on Monday August 10, at 2 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery on Granby St. Father Joseph H. Metzger III will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held at University Pizza on Colley Ave. in Norfolk immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike's honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Norfolk SPCA.
