Virginian Pilot Saturday July 4, 1970


Tallahassee, Fla. – Miss Helen D. Haines, 60, of 410 Beard St., a daughter 
of Mrs. Bessie Haines of Tallahassee and the late Burton C. Haines, died in 
a Baltimore hospital Thursday.
A native of Norfolk, she lived in Tallahassee 20 years.
She was a former school teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School and Cradock 
High School on Portsmouth and Great Bridge High School.
She was head of the humanities department in the library of the University 
of Tallahassee.
Besides her mother, she is survived by nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Norfolk, 
Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
